Santa Barbara Municipal: Located at 3500 McCaw Avenue near the Earl Warren Showgrounds on Las Positas Road.  It offers 18 holes of golf and has been ranked among the top municipal golf courses in the U.S.  With over 6,014 yards of golf and par of 70, it has a rich historic past.  Once serving as the Santa Barbara Airport, famous names as Charles Lindbergh and Amelia Earhart once landed on what is now the 10th fairway.


La Cumbre Country Club: A private club located in Hope Ranch on 4015 Via Laguna.  The course has 6,406 yards of lakeside play and is a par 71. It is considered to be the only Equity club in the Santa Barbara area.  All shares are privately sold at market rate which varies year to year.  In 2010, a single share was valued near $130,000. A onetime social membership fee of $7,500 is also attached to each sale.  Along with golf, this club offers tennis and a pool for all family members to enjoy


Montecito Country Club: Unlike its name, it is officially located in Santa Barbara adjacent to Montecito.  Owned by Ty Warner, it is a private course run in conjunction with another of his trophy properties, the Santa Barbara Biltmore (officially located in Montecito). With 18 holes, over 6,184 yards of play, par 71, this course’s sweeping views of the ocean overlooking the Bird Refuge and Santa Barbara Zoo make it one of the more scenic places to play golf.  The Connoisseur level membership, priced at $210,000, will gain you membership in the Montecito Country Club as well as its sister clubs: Sandpiper Golf Course, Rancho San Marcos and the Biltmore’s Coral Casino – all currently owned by Ty Warner.


Hidden Oaks Golf Course: This gentleman’s course offers 9 holes of golf with 6,612 yards of play and a par of 27. It is open to the public and is located at 4760 Calle Camarada. www.


Valley Club of Montecito: One of two adjacent golf courses located in Montecito at 1901 E Valley Road.  This course offers 18 holes with 6,612 yards of play and is a par 72. This is a private club that requires each new member be referred by a current member, know as a Proposer, who has to have known you as a friend for several years.  You then need to be recommended by another member, known as a Seconder.  After you have met those criteria you will need six additional recommendations by reputable references.  Then, and only then, you may be lucky enough to be allowed to join.  They do not have a website and will not let the general public know what it costs to be a member.  (805) 969-4681‎



Birnam Wood Golf Course: Located next to Valley Club in Montecito but run separately, this club offers 18 holes of golf with 5,890 yards of play and is a par 70.  It is a private club surrounded by homes in a gated community.  All homeowners must be members at a cost of $92,000 in 2010.  It is also open to the general public to become a member with recommendations from a Proposer, a Secondar and three references for a membership fee of $85,000. Rancho San Marcos: Located over the San Marcos Pass near Lake Cachuma at 4600 Highway 154, this newer property is a public course located 20 minutes from downtown Santa Barbara.  Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., the Santa Ynez Valley Course has 18 holes of golf on 6,814 yards of play and a par of 71.  Highway 154, San Marcos Pass, is known locally as one of the most deadly roads in the county-please designate a driver.


Sandpiper Golf Course– 18 holes of scenic ocean front golf.  Santa Barbara’s most popular course is located on the outskirts of Goleta, north of UCSB and next to the Baccara Resort.  It has 7,068 yards of play and is a par 72.


Twin Lakes: This gentleman’s course consists of 9 holes with 1,186 yards of play and is open to the public.  It is located at 6034 Hollister Ave in Goleta.


Ocean Meadows: 9 holes of golf with 3,241 yards of play and par 36, open to the public.  It is located at 6925 Whittier Drive in Goleta.  This course is one of the most reasonably priced full service regulation play public courses in the Santa Barbara area.


Glenn Annie Golf Course– One of the newest courses, it offers 18 holes of golf 6,420 yards of play and is a par 71.  Located in the foothills of Goleta at 405 Glen Annie Road, it is one of the more popular public courses in Santa Barbara.  Don’t miss happy hour at the Frog Bar and Grill after a day of work or a round of golf.
